Learning without a car

Is it too difficult to learn to drive without access to a car for practise, i.e. just taking lessons in an instructor's car?

I don't currently have access to a car but would like to complete my licence this year.

    Thanks!

I'm in this situation right now. It's such a pain, every time you want to drive you have to pay and then rent the car for tests, etc. I don't recommend it, it's doable, but expensive.

I'm in the same situation. It's very expensive, and I honestly wouldn't recommend it.

You need more than the 12 lessons to pass the test. The 12 lessons will teach you what you need to know, but you need a lot of practice to pass. This means you have to log a lot of time simply driving. If you have to hire the instructor and his car every time you want to go out, the costs mount up fast.

being perfectly honest I think you'd be wasting your time and more importantly your money if you don't have facility to practice driving between lessons. People have passed test on just lessons alone but its not very common. lessons will get you the basics and its time and lots of driving experience that get you the rest. even after you pass you test there are so many hours of driving needed to be a really good driver able to anticipate what lies ahead, road conditions, winter/summer driving, etc.
