I thought the flap had fallen off but if they landed without incident, im not so sure. Was it that pod bit that covers the flap actuators?
Good to see a happy ending though!

There's a video too. Looks like the fairing (canoe I think they call it) came loose. Anybody know if it fell off?

Looks like the flap track failing came away. I know of a certain airline who had a certain aircraft flying around without one of the flap track fairings for a couple of months not all that long ago... Apparently it was perfectly ok and legal just a minor fuel burn difference. It was explained to me as being a CDL ??? entry rather then a MEL item as it was deemed as cosmetic.

Yep CDL is configuration deviation list.
A list of external parts that an aircraft can be dispatched without. Fairings, undercarriage doors etc. There may be speed restrictions with certain items.

What actually happened......(as opposed to part of the wing falling off)

No, no, that can't be true, the Metro Herald this morning said the wing fell off:

Presume the crew will be looking forward to their OBEs on the next honours list after their heroic landing back at LCY!
OWO (one wing off) ops - tricky at the best of times.

That's amazing :pac: "They watched helplessly as the 1.8m wing dangled in the air"

Doubt they'll get OBE's... It was probably Ziv Nadivi at the controls!!

Awful journalism there........ did it fall off or dangle? Dammit I need details.....and they didn't even give us the age of the airplane or any of the passengers onboard.
