Today I went into the library and this is what I encountered:
An old man went up to the counter complaining that a person near him(They were using the public internet(pc)) was talking on the phone and it caused lots of disturbance so this is what the librarians said:
''We already told him to stop, but looks like he didn't listen'' So this was a female right, so she told the old man shell tell the traveller a warning again telling him phone calls are not allowed inside the library, so instead of confronting the traveller instead she went looking for a male librarian and told him about this situation, so he came and went back into the library counter and waited... for the traveller to finish of his call, either that or he was too scared.
After a while another librarian this time a lady went up to him to take his call outside, he said okay and went off to a different section of the library still on the phone... and all the librarians kept looking at him....
    Is this acceptable ?
Your opinion on this matter ??
Before anyone of ye say where was I, I just came in when all this happened.

A traveller not caring what other people think or doing anything within the rules/law, its hardly a surprise...

*awaits the PC brigade telling me they arent all like that...etc.........

    ps. No, its not acceptable

I think the librarians should have confronted him and strictly told him to get the hell out if you are taking a call, because I remember 4 months ago I was talking to my dad on the phone asking him to email me some documents which I needed to print, and they came straight away and told me to feck off outside with the calls.

The country needs tougher, and possibly armed, librarians.

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a book is a good guy with a gun.

....but the liberal pc gay Nigerian agenda won't let librarians stand up for themselves. Soon all our librarians will be muslims, and what then?

Obvious answer is to sue them for discrimination against settled people. Do it, I wanna see how it goes down.

I'd say for a librarian having 2 arms is actually quite important in fairness.

they need the finger to put to their lips to say shhhhhh and they can't really foot out books

No, one armed and a well sharpened hook should suffice, at least for the childrens section.

they should have thrown the book at him and asked him to leave.

they were in a bind without cover, but the guy had a hard neck and a hardback

That happens for the most part ie. people being afriad to deal with travellers vs other members of society. I'm sure if the librarians approached the traveller with the same purpose they would anyone else, they would have stepped outside. Then again, that could go awfully wrong too!

Obsiouly this would not happen in other countries like Denmark/ Sweden/ Finland, etc, etc, cause we are rubbish at everthing and they are better than us in all ways, bla, bla, bla, bla, bla.

Could be worse...could be Dom Jolly....

    He would in his ****.

I work in public transport and any time you have to ask one of them to stop doing something (e.g. smoking indoors or hassling people) all you get is a mouthful of abuse and threats and accusations of discrimination.

I taken to using the same approach as the library staff did in the OP. Ignore them until they move on because they aren't worth the hassle due to them not giving a **** about being normal members of society.

Are you really just annoyed because they confronted you a few months ago?

I've taken to giving more PC answers on these forums. I completely disagree with what I posted. I live in Tallaght & have to listen to them on the luas every morning - I can relate.
