Does anyone know if make-up powders - like eye shadows/blushers etc have to be put in the clear plastic bags, or can you pack them as normal? Just trying to fit as much stuff into the plastic bag as possible!!

For a checked bag they do not need to be in clear plastic bags.

Powders should be fine actually either way. I have seen people pulled for it but as far as I can tell from DAA pages powders are not classified as liquids and rightly so. Although I have had cheese taken off me before as it was a liquid?!

    You'll be fine with powders.

It's gels and liquids that go into the pouch. I've been extra careful before with eye-shadows and even chewing gum and pain killers going into the clear bag before realising I could leave them out. Gels include liquid eye shadows and eye liners though, and lipstick and lip-gloss. Pressed powder and power eye shadow is fine as normal carry on.

Buy yourself a see through toilet bag from dealz or pennies and bung everything in it. No worries at all then.

I think when you're trying to fit in a lot of liquids/gels with carry on only, there's far too much you could "accidentally" "bung" into it and leave yourself short. OP seems like they have a lot they'd like to bring, thus it makes sense to cut out unnecessary stuff from the clear bag.

I bring the most necessary items and then head to a cheap/pound shop like store when I get over and buy some bits there.

id be worried though as ryanair have actual dimensions allowed for the plastic bag!! i think is 20cm x 20 cm so as Gatica said i am trying to fit as much into the regulation bag as possible (eg foundation and makeup!) and then i will buy the other stuff over there - shampoo/sun cream. I havent travelled for a week before without checking a bag so it will be interesting to see how much stuff i dont actually need!

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful!

It's nothing to do with Ryanair, the security people you have to deal with are employed by the DAA so you need to read the regulations concerning liquids from the Dublin Airport website and nowhere else.
