Golf coaching and lessons

Just wondering if anyone has improved after golf lessons. I got a groupon deal for a guy called Kevin Beirth. Just want a slice ironed out a bit and hitting the odd shot fat. Divot at the ball rather than after. Everything else I think is pretty OK.

Anyone have any advice or input. Cheers peeps.

Have definitely improved thanks to lessons, started at 22 4-5 years ago, down to 12 last year& my swing would look completely different compared to when I started.

Was listening to mark crossfield recently commenting on the whole bubba Watson never had a lesson thing. He made an interesting point I thought. Basically his attitude is if your game is in good shape, scoring going down & you are happy with it, then why get a lesson, but if things aren't the way you want then to be & you can't fix it yourself then take a couple of lessons

Oh and i've only ever heard very negative stuff about Kevin beirth. Have never been to him though. Pretty sure he's not a pga pro though I could be wrong on that

I dont know the chap at all, now have I ever got a lesson from him, and I cannot post links as I am a new user but googling "Kevin Beirth pga" throws up some interesting articles... It appears PGA are/did remove him (through the courts) from being affiliated with the PGA.

Personally I think a decent qualified pro would be better for you. Might cost more up front, but maybe you can strike a deal (4 lessons for the price of 3 or something, often pros are understanding) and benefit you in the long run, as I know what a bad teaching pro can do to someones game and bad habits.

Jesus if someone was forcefully removed from the PGa I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

I've a good few euro i nthe club account and being toying with the idea of lessons. Got lessons twice during my teens and never liked them, felt there was way too many changes being forced on me, when I was looking for maybe a touchup with a specific part of my game.

Major fear that if I go for a lesson there will be wholesale changes and I'll regress.
