Thanks for the heads up Barnaboy. I've applied anyway. I don't know how it'd go down if I got tickets but I'd be willing to deal with that at the time :-)

If u can't go why would you apply??

Best thing to do would be to withdraw your application, gives the rest of us a better chance!

Not sure why I applied really. But maybe on the off chance I got offered the tickets I could try and make arrangements. It would be amazing after all!!

I travelled for the Tuesday Practise Round this year and I must say that the trip / overall experience well exceeded my expectations. I had been to Ryder Cups, American Express World Championships, Irish Opens etc. in the past but nothing compared to the buzz and excitement experienced at this place – even at a non-Tournament day. The things that stood out most for me were a) the surfaces everywhere - so deep green, pristine, manicured and smooth that I couldn't believe it was actually real grass (had to eat some to prove it ;-) ), b) the elevation changes on the course, especially on holes like 1, 2, 10, c) the extent to which the tournament staff make you feel welcome, d) the prices for food and drink - almost nothing, e) seeing Arnie, Jack, Gary a few feet away donning the Green Jackets and having the craic - f) the list goes on but you get the idea!

Truly memorable and something I would wholeheartedly recommend – something for every golfer’s ultimate Bucket List.

After having gone to this I wouldn't really expect any other tournament to top it as an experience.

The tickets were fully transferable - my mate won and bought them. He didn't go, neither did my regular fourball. I took another friend from Ireland and two others from the US. We organised a week of activities around the event including a couple of games of golf - had an absolute ball.

Any questions on anything in relation to the trip / experience – feel free to shout.

Lads, I've secured my tickets for 2015! Any tips on accommodation? Was thinking of renting an RV but not sure of state laws with parking it. Has anyone ever done this? Was also thinking of airbnb if there's any boardies that might be interested in getting involved.

We stayed here - it was pretty basic but just fine.

Best Western White Columns Inn in Thompson, GA.
    2 double rooms for $289.99/night
Fly into Atlanta and get a rental car, it's about a 1.5 hour drive from Atlanta on the Interstate to Augusta. Not too fancy, but it does include free breakfast and free beers after the Masters in the Foyer for a couple of hours each evening. The drive to Augusta National is easy and traffic free if you leave early (btwn 0630-0700)

I suppose AirBnB would be worth a punt also but I would start checking now.

How are the plans coming along Shifty - are you going and all sorted for everything ?
