    hi all,

just a quick query. a friend of mine who is a guidance councilor mentioned to me that because im my sisters guardian and on low income i may be entitled to fis. she is 18 and doing her leaving this year and she will be heading to collage in September (fingers crossed). iv been her guardian since feb 2013. two questions i have are, 1-because im her guardian would i qualify for fis??? and 2- also if i do qualify would it be backdated??

i only heard about this today and i trying to gather as much info as possible.

    thanks in advance

Can't be backdated as far as I know but you have to apply while she is in full time education, this would be easier to do now rather than when she is between 6th year and college.
You must have at least one child who normally lives with you or is financially supported by you. Your child must be under 18 years of age or between 18 and 22 years of age and in full-time education.

If you just have one child you must earn less than €506.

thanks for the quick reply, that figure of €506 is that gross pay or net pay after deductions.
