Broken nose, Mater hospital - how long do you think I'll wait for treatment?

    Hi there,

Last week-end I broke my nose in a concert, I don't know how severe it is but it's clearly unaligned and deformed (going to the left). I went to the ER in Mater hospital in Dublin immediately, and when I finally saw a doctor he made me pass some X-rays, confirmed that there was a broken bone in my nose, and faxed a letter to a department with a complicated name so that they would contact me for an appointment to fix it.

    Here's my question:
If that's ever happened to you or someone you know, how long do you think it will take to get the appointment and get my nose as it was? I've no trouble breathing but I'm feeling disfigured (I know it's a big word, and people don't seem to notice that much until I tell them, but that's all I see in the mirror) and I'm panicking a bit, wondering how long I'll have to keep my face like that...

    Another question:
I've always had a bump on the bridge of my nose. If surgery is required, is there any chance that they might think this is due to the breaking, and remove it as well? Should I go with pictures of myself to show them how it's supposed to look like and make sure that they only realign it?

I'm not sure this forum is the right place for these questions but I'm freaking out a bit...

A broken nose will only be 'fixed' when the swelling has subsided. People will wait at least a week or two minimum as there is no urgency.
We cant give personal advice about individual problems so I suggest you contact your GP with any significant concerns.
