Scratch Removal Kits

    Do them scratch removal pens/kits I see advertised on tv actually work or am I better off not wasting money?

    i got one before and it was ****e. Was a pen. The packaging was green.

    I personally wouldn't waste my money.

    Basically they all seem to work on the same principle; a fool and his money are easy parted.

    In simple terms, they contain a chemical such as Toluene, and what this does is dissolve the existing clearcoat and paint either side of the scratch, in the hope that it will flow into the scratch and Bob's your mother etc..

    Generally, no.
    Each scratch needs to be fixed on it's own conditions.
    You can buy a cheap one from a factors and try out in a door jamb or somewhere no-one can see, to have a look at what it can look like.

    They actually work fairly well for restoring scratched CDs and DVDs. For cars, mostly shoite.
