Stray Bull

I went checking my cattle this evening. There is a stray bull in with them. Spotted him early and kept my distance. I checked with my immediate neighbours and he is not one of theirs. My land runs alongside a river. Although it is high I presume he swam across it.

The river is popular for fishing. What liability attaches to me if the bull were to attack someone on my land?

None l wouldn't think. You have no responsibility for another man's stock or to keep them off your land.

Keep a note of it and if he's full and broken into heifers make sure you notify someone who could stand by you as proof of the animal breaking into them.

Depends on how hard a person you are! I've seen people try and fleece older farmers for animals turning up incalf. Normally if I had that, I would make a personal judgement after assessing the bull and offspring off him, then looking at the heifers ages and feeding. An 87 year old neighbour though....I would honestly not even hassle him.
