Anyone else tired of all the bellyaching of the general populace? it gets particularly bad at election times. Every 'ordinary Joe' on the radio or tv is complaining constantly and about everything (in particular property taxes and water taxes). Get over it! Apart from the fact most Irish people want great public services, but don't want to pay for them, for these people, everything bad in their lives is someone else's fault. I'm particularly sick of people giving out about politicians; go and stand for election if you think you'd be better.

People like the OP are exactly why Ireland's getting screwed over and the people won't do anything about it.

We are barely out of a recession and mortgages, building houses, propping up the construction industry and first time buyers has maneuvered its way high up on the agenda for a lot of people and government. Not enough idiots left this country during the recession

You have obviously been duped by the current media nonsense. When there is nothing better to write or broadcast they make up stories about property bubbles.

Some people are just moany fücks with an unrelentingly negative outlook on life. Personally think much of the whinging and bickering fired out here is as a result of a feeling of hopelessness.

    Go home Enda you're drunk.

Yes Enda, what did you say in Davos?..."people went mad with borrowing".
It's all our fault so we need to take the private banking debt on the chin and pay it back to our EU overlords over the next 60 years.

People must get stressed and worked up complaining about everything. Next time you're going to complain, think to yourself 'Will anything positive come from me complaining? Will the problem be fixed?'

    Seriously, try it, you nag.

Irish people only ever whinge, whether to the newspaper, or joe duffy or in the local.

We dont like the way the politicians/civil servants/bankers run this country but rather than pprotest properly about tax, water charges, garda/politician incompentence etc we whinge and nothing ever changes.
And then we whinge about that:(

I heard about it in passing but I wouldn't form a view based on soundbites and headlines. Explain it to me and why you think it is a bad thing. Up till now the media was collectively wringing it's hands because house prices were falling. Now it's all about a so called bubble

What exactly do people suggest be done about the countries problems? Should these things also be done by 'other people', rather than by pressure from the general population? (pressure which requires learning and complaining about the countries problems)

Thus beginneth the lesson from the Bishop. Further sermons will follow.

As soon as anyone protests they whinge about that. Crusties, "have they nothing else to be doing", professional protesters, no job, communists, magic money tree, the socialist crowd are going so that gives me a good excuse not to show up

People seem to have a fairly high regard for authority in this country no matter how bad they are to us, probably used to it after years of putting up with the Catholic church

Meta-whinging. You're right though OP. I avoid all that stuff for the sake of my sanity. Switch off the TV shows and radio shows. You know the ones. Listen to some music or read a book.

Roughly 60% of my wages are spent on taxes (maybe more) after you include USC, Income Tax, PRSI, BIK, VAT, Insurance levy etc..

    It's ****ing nuts.

People with no wages are paying VAT.

See for dxhound, that would defeat the point of being able to engage in rhetoric first (for bolstering current authorities), and only slowly acceding to the facts later - leaving all the actual work to the person he's arguing against, since he doesn't want to miss a good opportunity to pour doubt on any facts going against his views (which requires him to be lazy about fact checking those 'undesired' facts).

I generally ask the whingers what they are going to do to improve their own lives, and what are they going to do to improve society at large. The answers are usually slow in coming. Instead you hear 'property tax, water charges, bondholders, bankers, Fianna Fail, developers, blah blah blah...'. You can waste your whole life complaining and being miserable and feeling that everything is against you. Sure, there are lots of bad things in this country, but who among the whingers is doing anything to fix them? I actually think most politicians (and i'm not trolling) are in their job trying to improve things and make a difference. We just tend to vote in ones that aren't too bright.

This is impenetrable as usual but at least has the benefit of being brief. Brevity does not normally befit the Bishop.

Paying for water or paying twice for water to two different bodies and no control of either.

    Great stuff

Somethings impenetrable, but if you have difficulty Googling, fact-checking, parsing a simple statement, or reading posts longer than a couple of lines (or hell, even actually presenting an argument of your own, over sneering), it's probably not my argument that is so.

I agree with Ninap. Where does the angry man, sit? In the corner on his own. What type of person is the most popular? The enabler, the encouraging friendly soul, the one who inspires you to do better. I gave up being angry and negative as it got me no-where except to increase the ould blood pressure. One thing I found was that the more angry you are and the more you complain and bellyache about things, the more isolated you will be. You can get your point across without rage, say it once and that is enough. Anyone who wants to argue with you let them off and get angry on their own.
That is your lesson for today....Grasshopper.

Thanks for lubing your own ar*e up and making it easier for the rest of us to get f*cked too. You clearly have too much money and need to pay more taxes while the rest of us are sick of paying 3 or 4 different taxes to pay for the same thing!

Moan, whine, blah - Who are you angry with? "The Government"? Are they all trying to do you down? What are you going to do about it? Whine and moan in the pub? Yeah, that'll achieve a lot.

It's always gas when they finish their whinging with "I'm never voting for yee again!", I literally get numb with hopelessness.
