Using sky aerial for freeview

    Hi just wondering if anyone could tell me if you can use your sky satellite wire as a cable for a smart tv any help would be appreciated

    What make/model TV are you using?

    If the TV has a satellite tuner the Sky dish can be connected to get the FTA satellite channels.

    Hi thanks for the reply the tv is a new Samsung smart tv with saorview and freeview built in and wifi it has a cable connection but no connection for the sky wire to go directly in

    Freeview is the UK terrestrial TV service via a rooftop aerial, the equivalent of our Saorview, only available here if you're within range of a UK transmitter in NI or Wales and with the correct aerial pointing at that transmitter.

    The FTA UK satellite channels can be accessed with a satellite dish if the TV has a satellite tuner (DVB-S or DVB-S2 standard). A TV with a satellite tuner will have an F-connector (screw-on type) at the rear.

    You can certainly use your satellite cable. Remove the connection to the dish and connect an aerial instead.
