For all the legal eagles here. I know that you need special permission to use a NV scope on your rifle.

But what's the story with using a hand held or head mounted night vision device while looking through your scope?

If it doesn't mount to the rifle (and clipping it on the end of the scope would count), then the law doesn't seem to have anything to say on it at all.

It'd be legal. And if you had a scout rifle with a very long eye relief scope, you might even be able to use them...

...but wouldn't a lamp be easier?
