Saorsat TP question.

I do a limited amount of saorsat installations, there are a few places in the locality where it's not possible to receive a saorview signal. I'm talkin 5 or 6 jobs per year, if that. I don't have an installation meter which reads an s2 signal, I have a horizon hdsm meter which is three years old. Before my first installation about two years ago, I downloaded fresh settings from the horizon site, TP settings etc and loaded them onto the meter. This allowed me to set a dish to 9e before changing the LNB to a ka band. It's not an exact science but it worked and I've never had any call backs from signal issues.
Over time the meter stopped picking up both tp's, I'm assuming they changed frequencies as happens from time to time??
Can anyone recommend a good TP on 9e to set up as a custom carrier on the hdsm?
Would I be better off download new list from horizon and install?
I can't find the cable to join laptop to meter at the moment though.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Either get proper equipment (a DVB-S2 meter) or give up. You can't properly fine adjust a Saorsat install like this. Your method is OK for a self install / DIY, not for other people. It's not doing them a favour.

Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh.

Very harsh, there are quite few Fta channels on 9east and they boom in, I expect you are using 80 cm dish so try these:

    m6 Suisse 12034 V 27500 signal is 84 and quality 98 on a 110 cm in Clare.

TF1 is same frequency and does multi language. And in HD as we'll .

    Divine TV is on 11919 V 27500

    CCTV r 11996v 27500

Neither of those channels on that Frequency Group are of any use as it is a DVB-S2 Transponder Block.

The CCTV group of Channels (Globecast) on 11996 V 27500 QPSK 3/4 are DVB-S and strong on 9E. Vremya/Yaarl (Globecast) on 11938 H 27500 QPSK 3/4 is equally as strong. As is AngelTV on 11919 V 27500 QPSK 3/4.

    ANN (Arqiva) is the strongest DVB-S TP on 9E @ 11727 V 27500 QPSK 3/4.

If he could use those he wouldn't need Ku Band!

Also it's NOT for himself, that's why I didn't offer help. Dish size will depend on who he is installing for.

It would be pretty harsh on my pocket to buy a new meter for a handful of jobs per year as setting 80cm dishes this way for saorsat I've had zero callbacks. I've also zero interest in idle speculation and unsolicited, out of touch trolling.
Thanks for the informed advice people.

Unsolicited? You admit in your OP that you're effectively pulling a fast one on customers, doing Saorsat installs without a means of measuring the actual Saorsat signal. Surely that is inviting comment here?

Maybe the "zero callbacks" situation will change now, with the recent Saorsat FEC change?

    1st post, welcome to boards...
    Felt rather strongly did we.
    I appreciate your input :-)

    Have you PL insurance?

Really it's substandard work like this that gives technology and the Service industry a bad name.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭cornholiooo

I disagree, I think it's 'out of touch' speculation such as yours that gives it a bad name, too long sitting in an office maybe. My thread was posted to obtain TP details, not details of your one man crusade to sort out the aerial /satellite industry. Please take your waffle elsewhere.

If you had a bit of cop-on, you could have asked for Eutelsat 9A TP details without mentioning Saorsat. Or just googled "Eutelsat 9A" & the top result is Lyngsat TP list, no need to come here at all & expose yourself to justified criticism of your installation technique.

Is there not a forum on "Done deal" for the likes of ye ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭cornholiooo

I use done deal to advertise and also many other classifieds. I also use flyers, business cards, a website, facebook, signs, posters, signwriting..... By any means necessary... But nothing competes with 'word of mouth'.
Why are you so threatened?..ye make it so obvious...
Your petty 'thanking', cronyism, weak attempts at sarcasm and efforts to bully people make you look small and cowardly. Keyboard warriors... It's laughable.
I do my tax return and pay my insurance every year. I also sponsor jerseys for a local sports team.
    Get a life.

... But nothing competes with 'word of mouth'.

Word of mouth is only as good as the mouth it comes from. Your customers just see the end result, not the corners cut to arrive there.

When you do get a Saorsat call back, I hope you will turn up with the right equipment to rectify the situation & won't be blaming RTE for "changing something".

Welcome to boards friend, another new addition what a surprise ;-)
    weak....
Can you guys please stop clogging up my thread with gibberish, it's embarrassing at this stage. Few watts short of a light bulb hee hee

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 12 09Dan

Please point out the "gibberish" in this thread.

You are taking money from people for a professional service that you're not actually providing, since you have no way of measuring the Saorsat signal. Is that gibberish to you?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭cornholiooo

I'll say it once more just for you buddy, coz you're new n all ;-)
I've never had 1 callback from any saorsat installation I've done because of signal issues. Now can you go away? Hang on I'll give you an opportunity to score the point that's desperately eluding you.
    I also install tv ARIELS

    I'm not the spelling guy.

I wonder is Saorsat even needed in the places you installed it or, are your aerial installing skills just not up to much?

Do you even climb onto the roof?

I'd bet all your "training" amounted to, is advice you got in these forums, when you used to be called "makavelithedon".

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭cornholiooo

I changed my username for personal reasons, that's all your straw grasping self needs to know! I'd say your username won't last long... I wouldn't even bother reporting you to the mods. Inadvertently exposing for what you are will suffice.
The fact you / yours resorted to setting up bogus accounts to try in vain to score points exposes you as inadequate and juvenile.
So much for the heavy hitters....
Can this thread please return to its original purpose now.

Decent S2 meters made by a reputable company (not Chinese ), are available for approx €800,

With the above you would be able to 'see' the soarsat signal and peak the dish correctly,

It would also give you confidence in your installs going forward, a S2 meter is an essential bit of kit for anyone who makes a living from installing.

You/yours? I'm not in the trade, not part of any organisation, if that's what you're getting at.

I don't care why you closed your original account.

I'd still like to know at what point you give up on terrestrial & go for Saorsat. If you're confident in your knowledge & ability, you should have no reservations about giving a bit of info., not just demanding you be provided with what you want.

hju6 .....Your concern for my confidence is touching, if slightly disturbing.
You're starting on the Chinese now, a pending international incident surely ;-)
    Subject matter only please.
    No more nonsense
09dan.... Are you not banned yet??

I will be, but it won't be anything to do with this thread.

So, a 10-element aerial in the attic > fail > Saorsat? Saves you going on the roof?

Did you not figure out how to look up Lyngsat, Kingofsat or Flysat yet?

Someone knowledgable already posted perspective TP settings, since then it's been mostly waffle like yours. Thanks for your input anyway, you've been such a help. I'll probably encounter you again under your real user name sometime.

He does Saorsat because he can't get a signal using washing powder.
