Hi guys ,does anyone know this gas fire http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Glow-worm-Foundryman-Gas-Fire-/200947306025 i am trying to find out how to turn the gas valve on. I think looking at it from the front ,its bottom right hand side at the rear ,and is like a flip lever. If so should the lever be turned to the left or right ,to turn it on?

It was a simple question by Anthony to asertain whether it was turned of for safety purposes or not . As if it was, the only advice that could be given , is get an rgi to inspect , rectify any faults and issue a certificate of conformance . No need for the sarcasm . A lot of people here give good , free advice . An attitude like that won't have us scrambling to help you in the future.

It was a simple request, and as i have just moved into the house. I think the attitude is on your side,so no response needed.

Your right , it was a simple request by Anthony , still no need for the sarcasm . What if he said , yeah bud , just turn her on and away you go ! , then you poison you or your family as a result of a blocked / faulty flue , lack of ventilation etc . Point being , if it was turned of it was for a reason , knowing that reason is key to giving advice . If your only moving in , I especially would want the appliance checked and proved safe to use before switching on . I've seen chimneys stuffed with all sorts by previous owners/tenants and forgot about , then the new person comes in and lights a fire and that's when the problems begin .

It's sad that those who take the time to show a interest in you and yours safety are somehow misinterpreted as having a attitude?

From a person who has put his foot in it before (myself that is)
Words, meanings and replys can be misinterpreted by both sides without anybody meaning to orignaly offend.

Short replys or questions without explanation about purpose or meaning can easly be misunderstood with no malace been original intended.
This is what I've learnt by my own mistakes in the past.
