    Hi,
I'm considering changing the standard immersion gravity fed shower to an electric shower.
What would be the typical costs for this and would a good plumber be qualified to do the job (plumbing and electrical)
    It is in Dublin 6.
I would appreciate any of the regular contributors to pm me if they are interested in quoting for this work.
    Tia

Under new regs you need an electrician to do the electrical end of it anyway.

It will depend on the length of run between the consumer unit to the shower and also how awkward the cable run to but id say 250 euros upwards Yes Robbie G is right that you need a certified electrician. It will cost more to get a certified electrician but least you know the job is carried out to the required electrical standards.
I know some guys are going to reply that you get it done with a noncertified electrician for half the price. Put at the end of the day the decision is yours weather you get a certified or non certified electrician.

Yes. I was hoping to find someone qualified in both.

The cable run isn't that long and not awkward. I wouldn't let anybody who wasn't certified near the job.

If you go on the safe electric website they have a list of all approved electrician and you should find somebody in your area on it. I think it be your best bet

There are a lot of businesses that specialises in electric showers. If you google you'll find plenty. You should get a triton t90z supplied & fitted for €550 / €600. Some of these companies send out a plumber & electrician for this price. Also they will be fully insured. Don't be afraid to ask to see proof of insurance. It is illegal for anyone but a qualified electrician to work on a fusebox ( & rightly so)

Would you be handy enough to do the plumping end yourself as it would only be 1 cold water supply normally fed from the header tank. If you could do this yourself you will save a nice bit on the overall cost, Just get an electrician to do there part then.
