    Hello,

Can anyone tell me the average cost for getting hair and make-up done for bridal party. I just got a quote in just for make-up for €400 for Bride, 2 Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride and I presume that Hair will be same if not more than this?

It was for a house call but still very expensive! Or is it that you pay for what you get for?

    Thanks!

That does seem expensive, I got married in December and I had 2 bridesmaids, Mother of the bride, Mother of the groom and myself and it wasn't €400, My price included a trial aswell.

    I paid €320

Just got another quote in for €280 (just make-up) so it looks to be varied so will shop around but I'd be interested to hear what others have paid. (Munster region)

40 per face. With 50 call out charge. 400 for 5 people seems way too high.

That's what I was thinking too - it was my first quote in and wasn't expecting it to be so much! I'll defo be shopping around

The MUA who I am booking(who is gifted!!) normally charges €25 per person on a regular day. So even considering it being a bit more expensive because of bridal make up and travel it shouldn't cost that much. €400 is a LOT.

Paid 60 per face and 75 for bridal make-up, plus 50 for trial and didn't charge call out to hotel because she was very close.
400 is a lot for 4 people unless it includes trials for everyone, but she could be amazing... It's not that you get what you pay for, but the good ones will be in demand and can set prices accordingly. You just need to find the one that's not been "discovered" yet.

Apart from the fact that the make-up lasted all night, I think I should've done it myself. It just didn't feel right. It looked fine, but I like it different and I'm quite particular I guess. Any chance you could invest in quality make-up and do it yourselves? It's nice to get pampered on your wedding day, but may just not be worth it.

OP my sis paid 600 for bride and 4 bridesmaids and MOB makeup as well as brides hair and 4 bridesmaids hair. I thought it was expensive at the time comparing it to other quotes that people had received however:

The make up girl arrived at 7.30 (she had another wedding) - did all the make up. She left around 11. The hair girl arrived at 10 and began the hairs. She stayed until we left for the church to fix the hairs before we left. She fixed my mums hair piece on too.

The make up and hair were amazing all day. The photos look fabulous. People are still commenting on it. Friends came to the evening reception around 9pm and couldn't believe that the make up and hair had been done almost 12 hours earlier and still looked the same.

In short I think you do get what you pay for and you need to go on recommendations for things like this.

I'm after getting a recommendation of a local salon who have a bridal package of both make-up & hair for aprox. €60 per person with a €100 call out fee so I'm much happier with that and feedback has been good so going to do some more digging before I decide. It's suprising the difference in prices - I was taken aback when I first started looking.

Can anyone tell me how much it should cost to get flowergirls hair done at a salon? The girls won't be with me, they will be with their mothers, getting different things done like French plaits etc. I was quoted e19 for the mothers wash and blow dry and e30-40 for the French plaits?! Madness, no?!! Ta x

That's steep for the plaits but then they are a bugger to put in....Think €20 max would be reasonable for that

Yeah I thought so too for two 6-8 year olds:(

Do they need to get their hair professionally done? I'm sure their mums could manage if it's just a French plait.

Sounds like you're being charged the salon's 'upstyle' rate, regardless of the fact that it's just a simple plait and not an architectural wonder! I second their mam's doing it. Stick a ribbon in the end, make it fancy :D

They are such a curse to do though. Plenty of practice first..

I know not everyone can do French plaits, but if you ask around, you'll find a friend or a cousin with a talent for it, and I'm sure they'll be only too happy to help!

I paid 40 per person (we had 4) for make up...she came to the house. 35 per person for hair but we went to the salon..

I've been quoted 45 per person for make-up, 60 for bridal hair, 25 for blow dry, 40 for upstyle. Both will come to the hotel where we're getting ready.

Im covering mine (bride), bridemaid, mum, sister and sister in law for makeup, plus the same and two flowergirls for hair, plus a trial for hair and makeup for me. Both hair and makeup girls are coming to my house the morning of the wedding, and for the trial. All in, they are charging 450 (5 faces, 7 heads, plus one of each for the trial).
