Acer Aspire 5349 Hard Drive Replacement

Hi,

Looks like the hard drive on my acer aspire 5349 is shagged, brought it to a shop and the guy said it would cost €130 for new drive and labour, i aint no techi but i was looking online and it doesn't seem to difficult to change myself, i would have no problem putting in the OS after, can anybody tell me what would be a good compatible drive that could be used on this laptop?

I was looking at this crowd but they have a big selection and i'm not sure which would be good or bad

How much capacity do you require?

Do you care for speed or prefer larger storage space?

I would suggest going for a 7200RPM drive, if you do want a compromise between speed/storage (such as Elara SKU: ECE2805285).

Prefer speed and don't have too much storage requirements? Go with a SSD drive. First of all, failure of such a drive is way, way lower possibility than your mechanical drive. Your old drive failed once already. Elara SKU: JCEK-SV300S37A/60G is a reasonably priced 60GB SSD, even not being the fastest on the market you will see significant speed boost with your system boot speeds and general operations.

Not to pushed about the speed but storage is defo needed.

Ended up buying this one earlier.
