My 1 year term lease is ending at the end of the month, if I was to vacate the building do I have to give one months notice or can I use the final date in the lease as the end date (3weeks as off today)

Your landlord should have contacted you more than a month before the lease ended to discuss if it was to continue or not. Contact them, but at this point you're probably entitled to leave at the end of the lease.

Handiest thing is just to contact them today and save yourself the headache of worrying about it. They'll expect you to give them notice most likely, it'll state in the lease what you're expected to do.
