I got a letter from GMIT stating i would be offered a place on a course i applied for, i previously attended this course but left and was wondering if anyone would know if it would be possible to go straight into second year of the course as i previously passed first year.

If I was in your position I would ring the college and ask them . It all depends how long ago it was because courses can and will change over time to make them more relevant .
