This will play minecraft with the igpu but probably not really well. You could add in a better card later on if you find the igpu lacking and still have pretty nice performance for day to day stuff.

An amd apu build might be a good alternative for this as well as you'd get good gaming performance out of the box but maybe not for minecraft as it's mostly cpu limited.

    Cheers man, awesome stuff
Side note, the basket seems to be broken for me on HWV, doesnt add anything on either chrome or FF, anyone know whats up with that?

Throw all of that through Geizhals.de and you should easily get it under €300. Basically exactly what I've have specced you as well. The only thing I might change is to sub the PSU in for a CX430, as it's slightly more efficient.

Knew I wouldn't be able to spec it! Not yet anyways. Good luck with the build man

Having a bit of trouble getting it running, stuck it all together, and when I put the power cable in, a light comes on, but nothing else seems to happen. No fans turn on, and nothing comes up on the monitor. I do have the 4 pin power plug in, as well as the 16 pin, sata and power cable to the HDD, all the other various cable from the case too.
Anyone have any idea what else I can try?

What light comes in? Can you take a picture or two? Is the CPU seated right?

Here's the light, and a few pics of the wiring

Could you try unplugging the 4 pin motherboard connector and gently push it back in until the latch clicks into place. It's probably just the picture but it looks askew in third and fourth shots.

Failing that try using one stick of ram at a time and placing it in one bank then the other until the machine starts up to see if one of them might be dodgy.

Yewh its plugged in right, I think that's just the other part (to make an 8 pin) you see

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 91 ✭✭Addled

Ah yeah it's just the extra plug sticking out, I would just try one stick of ram first and also make sure that the front panel power button is connected to the right pins from the manual.

Turns out I did actually have one of the pins in the wrong slot, the power switch and power LED were in the wrong places, but still no luck.
However, where before I was getting constant light on, now the light only flashes when I unplug power, plug it back in and pres power button, so I guess the power is going somewhere.
No luck with moving the RAM either

Ok that's not looking too good, it seems like either the motherboard or cpu is faulty but I'd guess it's the board if it's not even running the cpu fan.

It could also be that there are a couple of bent pins in the CPU socket but you'd have to remove the CPU again to take a look.

One other thing to check is that there are no extra standoffs screwed in underneath the motherboard that might be touching some part of the board and causing a short.

If this doesn't help you might have to RMA the board, to sure of the exact procedure but I think hwvs give you some sort of tracking number then you call a courier to pick it up.

Yeah the standoffs are a good call.

When I did my build I had the 4 pin in the wrong way and the only way I figured it out was to do the build externally.

Put the mobo on the box it came on, don't use the anti static bag and start the build out of the casing.

Its a pain but I was ready to return myother board and processor until I copped the problem
