i know some will say " motor thread that way" but hear me out

i just watched the episode of said show on 4od , it's the one about a mini cooper , a mini cooper that they bought in donabate , off a man with a unmistakable Dublin accent , and all the cars on screen had D regplates ,

Yet they announced that the car was in Northern Ireland , in a small town just outside Belfast , called donabate
you see the Dublin port tunnel , Irish republic road signs , yet not once was it mentioned that they got the ferry to Dublin , drove to donabate , collected the car from a Dub , then drove it back to Dublin port ,
WHY would they make such a point of saying it was bought near Belfast , why not mention they bought it here , in the republic ??

has me irked and confused - i thought we were all supposed to be buddy's now?

Would you say that the show is more concerned with cars or geo-politics?

Joe shall hear of this... it's a disgrace

yea , but "British" cars , not ones bought off paddy , im thinking they could not get a decent one in blighty and it stuck in their craw they had come over here , so decided to hide the fact by spoofing - only reason i can think of for hiding the fact they got it here - why else ?

I'm thinking it was a fairly poor bit of research done by some underpaid, poorly motivated, geographically challenged intern, which was then read out by affable but clueless presenter(Philip Glenister) who didn't have the benefit of having the video on screen in front of him as he was doing the overdub.

Tune in next week, when I reveal why RTE keep a clone of Gaybo in the basement at Montrose.

    Definitely Dublin OP.

Would it be anything to do with CH4's public service remit? Perhaps there's something particular to the way the show was funded, stipulating the producers spend only within the UK?

Could just be a geographical brain fart that wasn't spotted in the edit though.

na , dont buy it , donabate is 20k max from dublin , belfast you could add 100 , its hardly Belfast , they were in Dublin , but chose not to mention it

why would you do that ?

Glad it wasn't just me who noticed it, and it was annoying.

The producers probably didn't want to say they had to buy their British icon car in Dublin. I was suprised there was still air in the tyres.
