A new series of Wallander starring Krister Henrikkson starts on Saturday the 17th May at 9.00pm.
The first two series' were brilliant. Looking forward to this.

    Good episode (#3) last night.
Loved the ending with Kurt's outburst to Bea.

It has been a while since we saw such an emotional outburst by him. I suspect that you could be right: it is all getting too much for him.

The actor who plays Linda is quite impressive. This season, they are placing a lot of emphasis on the father: daughter relationships (personal and professional), which is interesting to watch.

Is this the last of the Swedish series ? (I hope not). I actually prefer this series to the Branagh one which is brilliant by the way.

Yep, as per wiki it looks like third series is the last unfortunately. I'm enjoying this series so far.

If you haven't already seen them, you should check out the very earliest (from the mid 90's- mid 00's) Swedish Wallander films, starring Rolf Lassgård as Wallander. His is a very different creature to the one we are currently seeing on tv with Krister Henriksson in the main role.

While Henriksson's Wallander is a fairly honest and straight-down-the-middle type of cop, Lassgård's Wallander breaks every rule going, is a womaniser and a bit of a boyo. Hard to say which I prefer as it is like comparing chalk and cheese.

He's considering bigger too! They are on Netflix too aren't they.

Another very good show last night.

I thought it was excellent - the writers have never been afraid to tackle relevant societal issues and last night's look at prostitution and human trafficking was very impressive.

Poor old Kurt: was the letter he received at the end a diagnosis of Alzheimer's?

Another excellent show. When does a criminal's debt to society end, if ever?

Henriksson, in the lead role, has been excellent the past few shows and gave a great performance last night. His eyes, and body language, convey so much to the audience. Kurt's world is certainly beginning to unravel before our eyes. Going to miss this show when it ends next week.

Brilliant end to a brilliant series. I thought this was a superb way to end a really fantastic detective series. The writing has been excellent and never more so than the way they introduced and documented his descent into alzheimers.
I would like to thank BBC 4 for introducing me to subtitled programmes. Prior to Wallander I never had the patience to watch them. Since Wallander I have gone to watch all the Killings, Borgen, Salamander etc. They have transformed Saturday night viewing from the dross that seems to pervade most other channels.

    +1 to the above.

A few thoughts from the man himself:

Excellent series, sadly it had to come to an end:(, Krister Henriksson was superb as Wallander and his portrayal as a person suffering from alzheimer was superb but also painful to watch.

I hope that the writers and producers of the show continue the series but with a younger Wallander perhaps just starting out as a young inspector at the beginning of his career.

But until then I,ll wait for the Branagh version and watch re-runs of Henriksson,s Wallander that i just bought on dvd.:)

After completing the original Nordic versions of Broen (the Bridge) and Forbrydelsen (The Killing) I would like to start on Wallander although I am finding it tough to make sense of the sequence of the movies, and the television series, and I do not want to watch parts of Wallander in the wrong order.

Can a fan please advise if I watch the following in order...

    1994 Mordare utan ansi
1995 Hundarna I Riga (The Dogs of War)
1996 Den Vita Lejoninnan (The White Lioness)
2001 Villospar (Sidetracked)2002 Den Femte Kvinnan (The Fifth Woman)
2003 Mannen Som Log (The Man Who Smiled)
2005 Steget Efter (One Step Behind)2006 Brandvagg (Firewall)
    2007 Pyramiden (The Pyramid)

....at what point, or between which of these movies do I watch the TV series, and which seasons when?
