Hello, I'm new to here and I'm in search of some help. ,y friend told me here is a great place to get the help I need.

Basically I've just built a new pc yesterday.
    I've got a
    MSI Z87 GD65 gaming MOBO
    Intel core i5 4670k

When I start up the MSI screen comes up and the temp is glitches to 126. It's not hot at all.

The MOBO says 66 on it which I looked up and it's supposedly a CPU bug which meaning the CPU is faulty or something?

I don't know what to do, I have thermal paste and a coolermatser hyper 212 evo on the CPU and it doesn't get hot at all.

So what do I do? This is my first time building

If that the temp from the bios it then its likely a dodgy sensor on the chip, 126 degrees should never realistically happen.

But if it was an app from the OS it might just be giving a bad readout and maybe a different one would give a more accurate reading.

If the board is stable enough you could try a bios update to the latest version and see if it helps.

It seems unlikely that the cooler mounting or paste are the issue but it might be worth removing the cooler and cleaning the thermal paste off both the cooler and chip. Ideally with isopropyl alcohol and lint free cloth but tissue paper will do, just make sure there is no debris left behind.

Then re-apply the paste by putting just a tiny pea sized dot on the center of the CPU package and letting the weight of the cooler spread the paste.

You just want a paper thin or even less layer of paste over the center of the cpu where the die is to smooth over tiny imperfections in the metal.

This is a long shot but sometimes motherboards react weirdly to having only certain RAM slots populated so I would reduce your RAM to a single stick if you have more than one and try moving it from one slot to the other and see if helps at all.

Unfortunately I think you'll probably have to RMA the CPU and get a replacement if none of this is working.
