Planning law question re signs

    Hi all,
If I put up a sign without planning permission and leave it there for 10 years, no enforcement order can be made against me after 7 years, according to s.157(4)(1) of the Planning and Development Act 2000. My question: am I still free of such an order if I replace the sign with a similar sized sign but with different lettering?

I would be very grateful for any help on this!

Has the first sign actually been up for more than 7 years?

The size of the sign may be an issue. It seems Dublin City Council isn't particularly bothered by signs up to A3 size.

As I understand it, you can't be prosecuted for the existing sign, but they can make you remove it.

Are you free to change the sign without implications? That really depends. :)
