Mature student Jobseeker's Allowance for summer

Hi, I wonder could anyone share some information with me before I go down to my local social welfare office. I'm a a mature student and just finished college for the summer. I am looking for a job to get some cash for starting back in September but in the meantime I was wondering if I am entitled to Jobseeker's Allowance for the summer? I read on welfare website it says mature students may get it,just wondering if anyone has got this or didn't get it in this case?

If you are off for the summer and you are planning on going back as suggested above you may need a letter from the college stating such. Give this to the SW and you should be entitled to the usual JSA for the summer months. If you then get a job then the usual rules for JSA apply. One thing I was told by my local office though is that if you get employment for the summer let them know either by dropping in or calling them, and not by stopping your claim on the website, as this causes all sort of issues in September when you go back on BTEA.
