Happy enough but should've done better.
Gambled big time for the last 6 weeks trying to close a 20 point lead and it didn't pay off.
Ended up 70 points behind with 3GWs to play and ended up back 20 behind after today.

Finished the season pretty poorly, dropping 60k places in 3 GWs not helped by bringing the big dog Andy Carroll this week:P Meh is how I feel in general about the season. Some good but probably more bad decisions made (especially captaincy again this year:o) Crazy to think I reached my highest points total in 7 years playing this craic yet finished in my lowest ranking to boot. Mental auld fpl season, but twas fun all the same:pac: Enjoy the summer folks!

I'm pretty sure this will make EVERYONE feel better:

2053 points. Finished a 830k.

Team value 103.3m + 0.3 in bank.

34 transfers made costing 32 points in hits.

Made no transfers between GW5 and GW15 and by that point was at 2.2m globally.

Looking forward to next year when hopefully I'll be able to play for the full year.

It's my first full year as I started after week 2 last year, I set a target of top 10k after becoming a forum regular here during last season. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't reach that as I was in 9058 after week 36. Saying that though I was in 112,999 after week 31 so I had a great finish to the season.
I made a lot of mistakes that would have shot me up chief of which was remaining a fully paid up member of the anti Ramsey brigade. I also owned Coleman far too infrequently, I was only in for one of his goals though I had him benched in week 1 also. I missed out on a lot of Yaya's points but had him for a good section also. I failed to captain Suarez twice when he scored over 20 points and I had 2 pointers.
Anyway thanks again to all, I've said it before and have seen others mention it, this is a great forum full of seemingly decent skins, it's nice not to have the schadenfreude element which seems to be the sole reason for the existence of other forums.

I didn't have the time to build value in my team by following price rises, which definitely hurt me because it meant that trying to fit in the likes of Suarez came at the expense of two decent midfielders. Had I been a bit more shrewd, I'd have been able to accommodate everybody that I wanted to!

I think I did ok for my first ever year playing. Took way too many hits over the course of the year though which is something I'll have to watch next year. The last 7 GWs saw me in almost steady decline - dropped from 98k down to 184k. Managed a decent final GW to regain some ground but still a disappointing finish.

Another very good year but I threw away a 60 point lead in my main league (for a lot of money) with 2 weeks to go so that's still hurting. It was a combination of bad luck(injuries), bad transfers and bad captain choices.

Still a very good season overall in terms of rank. It's the 3rd year in a row I've finished in the top 10k after finishing 25th last year and 1578th 2 years ago.

I knew I would not hit the heights I did last season but I was disappointed with the season nonetheless. I actually took note of how I did last year (I put that in brackets):

Position: 141,900 (307) - some fall, that.
Total transfers: 43 (39)
Team Value: £103.6m (£102.9m)
Bank: £0.6m (£0.4m)

Plenty of scope for improvement. I think a weak defence was one of my biggest errors. Last year I tended to ply the funds in midfield and attack and got away with it; this year going for budget options at the back had me struggling.

The Good; Finished on 2228 points, my highest ever, and 100 points better than last season.
My GW31 score of 175, my highest ever for a Single GW, was the top score in the Boards.ie Pay League so I won a few quid.
Beat my rival by 40 points after he beat me by 2 points last season.

The bad; Despite scoring 100 points more than last season I dropped from 42k to 217k, a huge drop in the rankings.
Not getting in Saurez until GW 14 ruined my season! I missed out on at least 100 points there.

So a mixed bag of a season. See you all in August!

I'm actually super glad to finish on the same ranking for both the overall & GW 1 ones. And I realised the "winner" of the GW 2 ranking is just 1 single pt behind me :eek:. Phew ! But I made it :cool:.

Something (maybe) of interest.

I calculated my average GW rank just to get an idea what GW average is "necessary" for a top 2k finish. This is intrinsically skewed by the fact the game doesn't take points hit into account in the GW rank but I think it does give a fair idea.

So my 1663rd overall position "corresponds" to a ~ 636 540 average GW rank. Considering I took a 56 pts hit overall I guess my "real" average is > 700 000. I would have thought such a high finish would require a much higher GW rank average. I'd say this really shows it is a game of consistency. As many like to say here it is a marathon not a sprint .
