    Hi!

I am now in 6th year and want to come to UCD to study law in September :) However I can't decide on the actual course. I would love to do Law&Economics, as I do economics in school and love it, however I do ordinary maths and do not like anything maths based and have heard that Economics in college involves quite a bit of maths and that is not appealing to me.

My second option is Politics, but I am scared I will be rather bored as I do not have a massive interest in the state affairs, although I don't mind reading bits and bobs I am not sure that's for me..

My third option is plain Law, however I am worried that limits my options a little bit after graduating?

If anyone could give me their opinions or advice I would really really appreciate it!

Pure law is a very good degree and your career prospects wont be significantly limited just because you studied law. If you're not too keen on studying economics due to the quantitative element of it have you considered Business and Law? Of the various "Law with / and" degrees it provides the widest career opportunities as it covers a broad syllabus and allows you to specialise in plenty of different areas.

If you're interested in working for a commercial law firm after graduation then pairing your law degree with economics or studying something like business and law would help make you stand out and and demonstrate commercial awareness and interest. In particular since few people will have the former degree. So in that respect it may help to have a minor in economics in conjunction with a good GPA etc.

If it is not a mandatory requirement to have honours maths for the course then with extra effort you may manage with pass leaving certificate level. There is more choice later on in your degree so you could stray away from more mathematical aspects of some economics modules.

Do a minor in what you are interested in. If you are not interested in politics then it may not be for you conversely since you like economics don't let the maths deter you if your willing to work at it.
