Hi guys, i just last week unsubed from multi room and a HD package from sky to save myself 30 euro a month, as a result i broke out a freesat box i had stored away and hooked it up, but as it is a standard definition only box with a scart output the reception is not great on my bigger screen tv, i was wondering if i was to purchase a scart to hdmi converter (upscaler) would it upscale to an acceptable HD standard, 720P would be perfect.
Anyone ever used these upscalers ? are they effective. Don`t want to spend more money than i have to getting another HD freesat box.
    many thanks guys,

No upscaler. It will be worse than the original picture. Get a Freesat HD box.

You can't generate what is not there.

Your TV already is upscaling. It will look exactly the same (or possibly even worse if the external upscaler is not as good as your TV's inbuilt one).

I'd echo what @Sam Russell said earlier - get a proper Freesat HD box with HDMI output. That said, @winston/@moc moc a moc is right in that you cannot generate what is not there (silk purse - sow's ear - gedddit moc!), but the Humax Freesat box does a reasonable job of turning SD into reasonable 720p or 1080i. I use an external upscaler in an Onkyo AV amplifier which does a reasonable job but some of the lower bitrate channels are beyond it.
