'Shrek 5' Will Happen

I was wondering what people thought of the news announced just over two months ago that there will possibly be a fifth Shrek movie? I only found out today, personally I loved the first two, thought the third one was bland and the most recent installment was forgettable.

Jeffery Katzenberg, the CEO of Dreamworks was quoted as saying:

"We like to let them have a little bit of time to rest, but I think you can be confident that we'll have another chapter in the Shrek series. We're not finished, and more importantly, neither is he."

Seems like another cash grab to me, but sure if its bad I'll always have the first two chapters for nostalgia. Excited to see the theme park open up though.

Thought the first one was good, second was overblown, I cant remember if I've even seen the other two.

Jaysus, had no idea there's a fourth. Myers really needs to learn to let go.

Let me guess; Shrek is unhappy with his life but through a series of whacky, pop-culture referencing adventures he realises that he doesn't have it that bad after all.

Terrible film series imo, didn't even like the first one when it came out.

I've never really found the character of Shrek or Fiona that engaging to be honest in any of the movies.

In every movie a support character steals the show, Pinochio is a hidden gem of the series really.

I didn’t even know there was a fourth. A pretty tedious franchise that has one joke and with each film proceeds to grind it into the dirt. Pop culture references - with a fantasy twist!! To be fair, the first film wasn’t bad and passed the time decently enough, but the sequels quickly fell off the creative cliff.

It’s not even a particularly attractive set of films to watch; when people mock about ‘Dreamworks face’ I always think of the Shrek films with their bland, uninspired character design and equally dull world-building. But hey, I guess these films make money & presumably the kiddies love them.

I wasn't sure there was a fourth one either, and it turns out after a little research that I saw the blasted thing in the cinema too. It was a mess of a movie and my kids were in turns bored and confused by it. I'd agree that the first one was passable, but not a patch on Pixar's movies. The sequels just sort of all meld into one blob for me.

The first one relied too heavily on knowing pop culture references, the rest only got worse.

The second one is actually my favourite. The animation is much better and it sees Shrek try to make someone else happy rather than himself. Also, great soundtrack. The rest I can take or leave
