Up till a year or so back it was grand.

Now it's all stops & starts throughout the vast majority of the footage and with long intermittent gaps.

A right pain in the bijibaloobas.

    What's the story?

And It's not my PS in case any smart arse suggests that.

Seriously though. Did You Tube change the quality of their bits & bobs?

I agree . but its like that with everything . once something is working fine someone has to go and change it , Usually for the worse .

Google took it over, that's when the changes started. There have been some irritating changes alright. The interface seems a bit dodgy the last few days too.

Shags all round and kudos too. !

But I like the way people above are blaming Google.
It makes sense. I didn't know they bought You Tube.

Is this what you're talking about: http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/how-to-speed-up-youtube-buffering-and-playback/#!L3dUK

I prefer its current format because it's friendly towards low bandwidth users. I'm always uploading and my upload speeds are shíte so whenever I watch a video, YouTube buffering with eat into my upload speed.

The google plus integration is an annoyance. It messed up the comment section and there are a heap of comments you can't reply to anymore.

It also integrates all your google email accounts and Google + profile into the system, have to switch between 3/4 of them when I just want to use my old username.

The only thing that ruins it are the ads. Some you can skip after 5 seconds but others you have to wait until the ad is finished.

It should work better if you download more RAM onto your computer.

I'm now able to watch YouTube on my Nintendo 3DS XL. When l 'm not playing Kid Icarus on it. Also quite happy with my own YouTube channel's stats.

YouTube uses a Flash Player by default, but you can request it uses a HTML5 player instead. Not all of their videos support this yet, they still need to be converted.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

It all started to go wonky when they implemented DASH.
In theory it's a great idea, in practise...

To disable it try out the YouTube Center browser extension.

It went ****e for ages, but seems to be sorted now, for me at least. It currently buffers videos like it used to without any extension.

100% agree. And this mandatory Google+ integration, Christ... Horse manure.

They do not understand that I WILL NOT join any social network, I rather give up on youtube if they keep pushing me.

Youtube and other services became dominant bandwidth users a couple of years ago. A number of american ISP's and one particular European ISP have been systematically ignoring peering arrangements that these bandwidth services use, although others are jumping on the bandwagon now.

You and other users go "youtube/netflix" has gone to pot, rather than the reality that the bandwidth problem is most likely caused by your ISP since Google has more servers and bandwidth to host Youtube multiple times over.

Works fine for me. When you think that it's a free service and what it gives you, it's hard to complain about it.

Been using magic actions for over a year.

Don't forget to play around with the options.

I have mine default to 1080p, centred, player window semi maximised, volume control with scroll wheel, click page to go full screen large, video thumbnails on mouse over etc etc.

I think the problem is with your computer OP. My youtube works fine. I remember years ago though when I had an older computer, the same problems occurred on it. But it works fine on my newer one.

The thing I hate about it lately is when you click a channel and then click videos and click a video you want to watch, the showcased video on the channel's home page plays in the background....been happening to me the last few days. Also when you click youtube home often a video's audio will still be playing in the background...very f*cking annoying.

Remove youtube ads (and ads across the net): adblock plus (can't insert link cos I'm a noob).

Also, install Greasemonkey (Firefox) or Tampermonkey (chrome) and install the YouTube Center user script.
