Anyone know the cheapest legit place to buy OSX Mountain Lion, or must it be bought from Apple? Planning on installing it on a virtual machine, to get used to using it, as I'll be giving people limited support on it in my new role.

It was download only and only available form the Mac App Store, OS X Mavericks may only be available now in the App store but you can use previous link to purchase code or I think if you call Apple they may be able to sell you a code for Mountain Lion to download from the App Store.

It is also only for Mac hardware or for VMs running on Mac hardware

No where. Mountain Lion was only ever available to buy as a digital download from the Mac App Store.

Grand. What's the min specs for Mavericks, regarding an actual Mac? Not going to pay top dollar for something I only want to use to learn on.
