All the closed minded metalheads are busy arguing over genre minutiae as usual, obviously. :D

The Cynic story shouldn't even register.

    I laughed :D

But quite seriously, the problems may not be as pronounced as elsewhere, there is a small minority of people who are quite homophobic, racist etc. There was a comment thread I saw on a friend's facebook where someone was ranting about how gay people and black people have no place in metal, and it was absolutely shocking to see in this day and age.

it's more likely to see it in this day and age as everybody and anybody with any sort of reasonable living condition has access to the internet and opinions that desperately need sharing.

Seriously?? Do they realise that one of the men who started the entire thing is gay? And that he is almost universally adored. Jaysus.
Black people probably are a bit under-represented alright, which is a shame as when they bring influences like old black music and soul to the party it can be pretty spectacular. King's X being a case in point. Actually the singer for King's X is gay, black and christian. Covering all the rock and metal minorities there :pac:

I know, it's ridiculous, but it's not an isolated thing either. There's an owner of a guitar company who's gone on a complete meltdown about Cynic now, saying something like now he knows why he hated headless guitars (Paul Masvidal always played a headless guitar) and then doubling down on the homophobia when questioned about it.

This is just one of the highlights...

As with most things in life, the answer can be found on a Death album:

    and of course....

Who knows, maybe Chuck had the two lads in mind considering they were both on the last album....fairplay to them anyway, always though Paul was gay but didn't actually know about Sean Reinert.

It's just shocking, that a story like this is deemed to be 'shocking' in any press release...or are we stuck in the 1960s?
