Won an auction on Ebay. Seller claims to have 'lost' the item. What should I do?

If youve paid, open a dispute to say you never got the item. You'll get refunded that way.

Did the item sell for a lot less than it should have?

Seller is based in GB and has not issued invoice yet, so no payment has been made. Item is in "antiques/collectibles" category and went for a keen price. Of course it could be genuinely lost but there is always the suspicion that someone had made a higher offer after the auction.

well i would cut my losses since no payment has been made.
You can still leave neutral or negative feedback if you wish.

Don't be surprised if the 'lost' item pops up for sale again in a while, but with a reserve this time!

don't leave feedback straight away, you have up to 30 days afaik.
just wait ans see is it relisted, and if so leave a negative.

Good advice to wait a month. Keep an eye on the seller . Incidentally, sellers can withdraw an item anytime. The 'end of auction' date is effectively meaningless. I got caught out a few times waiting to see the final offers and then the item disappeared. !

I got concert tickets on ebay before at a cheap price and the seller claimed not to have them. He was a frequent concert seller of concert tickets and also sold a lot of furniture under the same name too, his main business -certainly no poor kid stung with a poorly worded ad which got little attention. He even had tickets for the same gig he could have offered

    This was his excuse
I'm afraid when we went to dispatch the tickets we realised they had been double listed and sold last week to a buyer. We apologise for this inconvenience and have issued you a full refund.
Kind regards, Andrew **** (Managing Director).

He put them up a few days after, the exact same seat numbers. I left concise negative feedback, you only get so many characters so use them wisely, not emotive "AVOID AVOID SCAMMER!!!!!" type feedback which others may ignore. Post up your proposed feedback here if you want any suggestions on it.

My negative feedback really appeared to work. Months later I was able to check his feedback and sales history and it had plummeted since my feedback.

I also complained on ebay via the customer service links
Customer concern: I won tickets to a concert and he refused to sell them to me. He then put the exact same tickets in the same block back on sale as a "buy it now" at a much higher price. There were 17 different seating blocks and these were the same block Q tickets. I presume he was not happy with the price I won them for, so refused to sell even though I won them fairly. Also at the time he had several other "buy it now" auctions for standing tickets for the exact same concert. He could have offered these tickets to me and closed the auctions early (i.e. there were no bidders yet). As he is a business seller he would certainly be aware of this, and I told him such but got no response.

You can check his history and see these auctions begun before and after my payment went through. Also the late reply and refund of my payment meant it was too late to even try and buy more tickets in other auctions as the concert was only days away, so delivery was impossible. So ebay also lost out on potential sales. He is blatantly touting tickets above face value which will soon be illegal in Ireland under new laws to be introduced. He never responded to any emails I had about this.
