Vehicle not eligible for online taxing?

    I bought a second hand car last week. This car was not taxed as it was declared for non-use last August.

    I sent the VRC to Shannon the day after buying the car. This morning, I can see that the Change of Ownership has been recorded. However, when I go to tax the car online, I see the following message:

    "Your vehicle cannot currently be taxed online.
    According to our records, a tax disc for this vehicle has already been issued at a Motor Tax Office."

    Unless the motor tax fairy has purchased the tax for me, I believe this message to be incorrect. Any ideas? NCT is tomorrow and I would like to have the car taxed for this.

    Possibly to do with it being SORD? You can't unSORD a car online. (doesn't explain the "already issued" bit

    It hasn't gone through the system yet. I wouldn't worry about it being untaxed for the Nct.

    Thanks for the replies.

    When I rang the Motor Tax office yesterday they said that the Change of Ownership should be applied by this morning. I've checked this link https://www.motortax.ie/PSE/ and can see its been 'Transferred to individual on: 01/05/14' & 'Most recent cert issued: 09/05/14' but even still, it won't let me tax it online.

    The woman on the phone yesterday told me that the process had been completed, but sometimes it takes a while to go through on the website. Maybe if I try again tomorrow morning, it might work.

    Another explanation as to why I cannot tax online is maybe over this SORD business (as mentioned above). Will give them a shout, again, on Monday anyway
