    Well folks.

As per this thread a few of us we interested in heading for a spin somewhere. I think the 17th is a good date to get the ball rolling. 10.30am?

Route? I used to go to Dundrum > Enniskerry > Glencree > Sally Gap for a long cycle when I used to be out that way. Though I'm less fit then I was the last time I did that and the new bike has a lower gear so that may not be the best idea. :o

Though I'm open to (less hilly) suggestions and it would be a bonus if I could stop for coffee somewhere

I do like the 'waiting for everyone at the top of hills idea'. Sounds like my idea :pac:

Will try to make it along for this, though meeting friends for a few jars on Friday night may scupper me. Dundrum - Sallygap sounds good. If you're looking for a coffee stop and don't plan on going on as far as Laragh something like Dundrum - Enniskerry - Crone wood - Sallygap - Glencree - Coffee and cake - Enniskerry and home ticks most of the boxes. If I make it along and the weather is halfway decent I'll probably continue on from the Sallygap to Laragh and come back via the Wicklow gap, as I need few more hills in the legs prior to the WW200. I'm deathly slow going up hills and pretty unfit, so won't be going at any fast pace.

Short notice but anyone like to go out early(ish) this Saturday. I'd like to do Sally Gap-Laragh and back leaving from Rathgar. Could meet anywhere near Rathgar/Rathfarnum/Dundrum etc. Would like to do close to 4 hours on the bike but would welcome company for any part of the trip. Aiming to leave at 0900 but flexible an hour either side.
    Regards
    Doc

I'll be doing something similar on Saturday but will probably be back, showered and fed before you leave

I could be up early if you want the pleasure of dropping someone on the hills. I'd catch up in time for coffee!

Would go along especially with the improving weather but unfortunately have a driving lesson conflicting with the planned time.

Would hopefully be on for a spin on Saturday, though be warned I'm slow as feck going uphill. Thinking of trying to get in a longer spin but would certainly be up for some company on the Rathfarnham - Sallygap - Laragh stretch. I'll post again tomorrow to confirm I'll be heading out.

Don't worry, I'm no Pantani myself. Post again tomorrow if you're heading out and where suits to meet.

Too hardcore for me. I'll be giving the baby first feed at 0700 to give herself a bit of a lie in before I abandon family for a few hours. I'll join you some day you are up late!

Edit : Oops I just realised that this is a continuation of an old thread.

I'd be up for a 9am-ish spin. Meet Stocking Lane roundabout or Yellow House?

So 9am at yellow house? I'll wait there at 9 for a few minutes anyway and see if anyone else shows. I'll be wearing a yellow mercatone uno from the Pantani era and I'll be on a White cube

Going out for a few beers tonight, but will be at the yellow house for nine if it is not to late a night. Probably be in green boards gear. Will be there for 9am or not at all.

Ha, I'm allowed out for a few scoops myself tonight so it could be two sore heads. Go on suffer the pain and I'll see you at 9.

Been out and back. Very over cast. Looks like rain might be coming

Was at Yellow House until 9:10 waiting but no sign of smacl or Doc07.

Lovely day out. It's roasting out despite it being very overcast. Only got a tiny bit of drizzle/mist near Djouce.

Sorry about that, got in at about 3am last night and there was no way on earth I was going to shift my sorry self out of bed to be there for 9. Ended up doing my penance going up Cruagh at about mid day, sweating like a pig, with a taste of last nights Guinness still in my mouth. Grand by the time I passed the Sally gap, but suffered badly in the first hour of climbing.

Ah sorry to keep you waiting, I got there around 920. Made it to Laragh and back, stunning going past the waterfall both directions. 89km total. I left the Pantani jersey at home was in black/pink boards jersey if anyone saw me suffering up Cruagh and the Gap. Next time il get there early.

The main thing is you got out there, fair play , I'd be wasted for the day if I was out till 3am. I only had 4 pints and home by 1230.

For those who would like an alternative to the out and back over the gap, the high road above Roundwood is a great return route. Come down off the gap into Laragh, left at the triangle, take the immediate next left (steep climb), avoid the right down to Roundwood and the left to Lough Dan, right at the t-junction and next left up towards Ballinastowe. Lovely quiet route.

Lovely road indeed, though the first couple of hundred meters are pretty vicious. It a great alternative to the gap on windy day.

I'm hoping to do a nice spin on saturday. Heading from Rathgar/Rathfarnum area and aiming for Laragh and back or something similar in the 80-100km category. Ideally 4 hours moving time anyway but would certainly have a coffee/cake break.

Anyone who feels like it is most welcome. I would ideally like to leave around 0800. Could meet at Yellow house pub or Ballybowden roundabout if any takers.
