Anyone here ever export a ram to the North or UK? I've had an inquiry about a ram and trying to understand the requirements. While I understand the requirements around scrapie and blood tests, exporting direct from a mart is very unclear.
Interested to know if people have sold rams to the North from a sale, how does movement work is it same day or do they need to go back to your own farm for a period?

Trying to make up my mind if sell private or should I let him go to a sale as export eligible and wonder how that works:confused:

The ram would have to be blooded and vet checked and given a health cert and a route plan from one point to the other point, and transporter would have to registered to export, the sheep can go direct from farm to UK farm, the UK are on stand still rules still and this has a big impact on showing and sales,
Last year we exported two rams to farnce and brought sheep from France and UK, it is simple once you play by the rules any other way is hardship and possible slaughter of the sheep if found out.

Thanks sheepbreeder, does that mean you can't export directly from a sale even if all other criteria is covered?

Yes you can if it is an export sale with a vet present to do the paperwork on the day and the sheep has done the export test prior to the sale it can go direct to destination. If not tested prior to sale it will return to farm and do the test prior to export,
