    Hi,

We are in the market for a new dishwasher, old one is there about 14yrs at this stage and was a bargain basement Electrolux at the time ( shop did a deal where it was possible to buy all appliances for kitchen for £1000 !!)

Anyway, it is starting to show its age and I am looking to buy a new one.

My only "needs" are a delay start ( we have a night meter) and would like it to be very water efficient, in light of upcoming water charges.

Has anyone bought a DW lately ? What would you recommend ?

Should I be buying a more high-end DW (Bosch, siemens etc) or would I be okay with a cheaper one ?

    Thanks in advance

Normende has been highly recommended to myself recently. 10 place sets - e350...12 place sets e450. Dear enough but half loads, quick washes and time delays might be worth the investment. two yr warranty with the machine but then if you register it on the actual normende site - they give another year!

Let us know how you get on - il be shopping for mine in the next few weeks.

you can get a simens dishwasher for around 450 and it would be a far better brand or maybe stick to blomberg at 399 nordmende products arent generally considered to be a good brand

Have measured our old DW and it is 59.6cms wide (Electrolux), from looking online and in shops most available now are 60cms wide.

Hubby is going to take out old one and measure the space in the line of units but at the minute it is looking like we will have to buy another Electrolux to get it to fit in the opening.

As an aside has anyone bought a DW from IKEA ? Their one is 59.6 wide also and would have the benefit of the IKEA 5 yr warranty which would be a plus.

Also I wonder if their "Own" brand is a re-badged Electrolux as they seem to be the only ones that come in this size

dishwashers are 600mm wide, the kitchen door that goes on to it would be 595mm or 596mm

Not in our case, We measured the front of the dishwasher (measured the opening across the front with the door opened) and also found the old manual and both give dimensions of 59.6cm

Maybe when we take out the DW for a look the space might be a little bigger but if I remember correctly the kitchen guy at the time had the appliances when he did made up the kitchen.

I am hoping the space will be big enough to fit 60cm as it will make it easier to find a DW locally
