    Hi

I lost my Edge 500 on Monday 05/05/14 @ 20:20 approx on the way home from Corkagh Park. My route was St Johns Road onto Boot Road and I think it fell off Fonthill Road South

I left it on the roof of my car while putting my bike up on my new bike carrier. I got distracted and drove off with it still on the roof I heard a noise and thought it was the new carrier I then heard a second noise on the roof and stopped to check the carrier... Later when I went to upload my data I copped it was missing... The first noise was it sliding on the roof the second it falling off :-( along the Fonthill Road South

I've walked up and down looking for it but no joy...

As it is a GPS device is it possible to trace it or track it ??? I've the Serial Number and its registered to me...

I've mailed Garmin support asking the same question

Has anyone had a similar drama...

I doubt it's possible to track it, as basically while the Garmin has the capability to know exactly where it is, it has no way of "phoning home" or sending that information out to you or to Garmin, I'm afraid. The only reason that this can be done for phones is that they can use 3G or wifi data to relay the GPS data on to other systems.

    Thanks Cython

I just thought that it might be possible to "ping" the device or use a equivalent gps command as the device dose have a ID

Anyway its a long shot... and costly lesson learned...

Post the route you took and where exactly you heard the sounds of where it may have conked off!
