Clawback Scheme (starting bonus)

    Hi all,
Anyone have any experience with this. Just got offered a job, and a starting salary with a once off starting bonus. The letter said, this is subject to a clawback scheme if I were to leave the company. Obviously, I don't plan on working with the company for the first month and rushing off the bonus, but is this a way of companies trying to lock you in to work for them as otherwise you have to pay the money back. Or is the bonus just for a certain period, ie if you leave before 12months.
    Thanks.

TBH you're best bet is to ask the company the details of this. I would assume that there is a minimum commitment you will have to complete to get out of the clawback situation. I am assuming that you are in a field where demand outstrips candidate supply.

Thanks Gandalf, eh I'm not sure, but I would say your right demand is prob greater than supply. Its not the sort of thing I like to ask an employer, (about leaving) before I've even started! but I think I might just ask to be sure.
