American Airlines 757 questions?

    Hello,

This summer I am travelling with American Airlines from DUB to JFK I am flying out early June does anyone know what the In Flight Entertainment system is like in this plane? I rang up AA and they said there would be screens in the back of seats but looking at seat guru it says there isn't they're all on the roof of the plane. Has anyone traveled with them recently or traveled on a 757 that had the screens in the seats from AA. Just not sure if I should bring my tablet away with me to keep me entertained =P

    Thanks,

    Daspendy

I did this route about 3 months ago and the TV sets are in the roof. I'll just say I'll never fly AA again after that experience. I found flying in a narrow body plane for that length of time very uncomfortable and almost claustrophobic. The lack of on board entertainment didn't help either. Also the on ground customer service in JFK was nothing short of appalling.

Apparently they're doing a rehaul on the aircraft with their new logo and stuff. I have had no problems before with AA but that was a flight to Chicago on a 767 but it had the screens in the roof. I hope by June they will have the new IFE system if the people in AA customer services were correct that is.

Most uncomfortable seats ever, spent two weeks recovering after flying this route. Needless to say I flew Aer Lingus on the way back....

Sorry, is a 757 usually configured in a 3-3 format? If so I flew on one of them from JFK a month ago, really uncomfortable, would not chose to fly that way again.

On the other hand, to answer your query, they did have seat-back video screens with a decent selection of films, though nowhere near what KLM had on my flight to Panama.

American Airlines planes are terrible for long haul.

Flew Alitalia from Rome to JFK and it was MILES better.

Their Internal US flights are great though.

Hubby flew with them recently and first thing he said, we're not flying with them on our holiday later this year. Entertainment system was single screen front of plane (maybe one every few row...), bad movie selection and he said the sound was very bad. Don't know what plane model it was, but we'll wait til further good reviews before booking them in future.
I'd rather pay a bit more and pick what I watch for a > 7 hr flight.
