I'm looking for a decent road bike for my holidays - something light that I can pop on a rack without too much hassle.

Ideally, I'm looking for a top tube length of around 55cm and sub 9kg. Tiagra or better would be nice.

Dublin or Kildare would be handy too :)

I have a Felt FA 54cm road bike custom build. The FA is the top end aluminium race frame with a carbon fork and BB30 bottom bracket. The frame is brand new never ridden built with a used shimano ultegra 20 speed (dark grey) group set and Fulcrum Racing CX wheel set also brand new. Gatorskin tyres fitted also zero mileage on this frame and wheel set.

I can post a picture later, would be looking around €900

Thanks - that's beyond my budget. I should have said that my budget is €300-€400. I qualify for the bike to work scheme but I've two good bikes already, just don't want to take them on holiday

Can up the budget slightly on this for a light bike with a decent groupset.

@Randomstuff - your bike is a beauty but its too eye catching and too good for what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a generic bike that I can leave on a bike rack on holidays and that won't attract too much attention or upset me too much if its stolen.

@Taxuser1 - thanks but carbon is definitely out - too good and I need something robust that can take a few knocks

Something along the lines of a Giant Defy maybe?

I've a "56" cm soma smoothie (geometry here pictures here)
Sram rival, itm bars/stem. Takes full mudguards and racks if desired.

With my powertap wheels weighs close to 9 kg.

    ?

That's lovely. What are you looking for for it? Obviously op has preference, but if the planets align, etc, etc.

Off the top of my head, would €600 sound right without wheels? That's quick head sums of original cost /2 minus a bit.
I have an open pro 32x rear wheel and the ksyrium front that I interchange with the powertap set (the rear ksyrium needs a replacement rim thanks to a pothole).

Cheers - looks very nice but a 56cm top tube is too long for me

That's a bit much to entice a snap-your-hand-off type reaction, but leave it with me... I'm not a sram fan; would you sell without the groupset and saddle?

You mean what price for frame and fork? In that case I'd suggest you go new and ask Andy in Stagg Cycles to get you a frame in. Was give or take €550 for frame and fork iirc. It's genesis equilibrium territory but Tange prestige rather than Reynolds 520.

The complete bike will either stay with me or go - my next project is getting bb30 cranks (race bike hand me downs) so gxp is not going to be much use on its own.

I can't fault the sram, I just put in the gore fully sealed gear cabling and it's super smooth. The price as always is negotiable, and I cycle it to the city centre if you'd like to take a look.

Cheers - its a good bit more that I want to spend. I was looking for something around the €450 mark. Its a fourth bike just for holidays. I qualify for Bike to Work so there's a price point at which its better value for me to buy a new bike.

Have a Giant Rapid 2013 model in great nic. Based in Kildare. You could take it away for €500 if you're interested?

Which Rapid model is it? - what groupset does it have?

    What size is it?

    Where are you located?

    What weight is it?

Is the virtual top tube measurement definitely 54cm?

I'm just outside Bunclody. I'm 20 mins off the M9. 50 mins from the Big Ball.

It's just under 10kg. Great training bike!

It's 55cm centre of downtube to centre of headtube.

I Have an immaculate Giant SCR3 medium size with a new Tiagra groupset on which has done only 200kms since being fitted, full mudguards fitted and the frame has rack bosses also, looking for €500, would you be interested? I'm based in Leopardstown.

    Hi,

Thanks for the offer. My problem is that I qualify for the bike to work scheme so I can buy a new €1000 bike for less than that. I was aiming to spend €300 on an average spec bike and maybe push to €450 for something more special with decent wheels & 105 group set. It seems crazy to me to buy a new bike for very occasional use but I guess that the bike to work scheme has created these distortions in the market. It'd be a different matter if I didn't qualify.

Good luck with the sale btw.
