My partner applied for fis and his payment has come through but there was more in his account than he expected. I have taken into account back money and it's still more than we expected. I am going to ring tomorrow to double check but just wondered could it be that he is paid monthly so his fis is also monthly?

FIS is paid weekly. Did you get a letter from FIS stating what his weekly payment would be and what arrears were due?

Got a letter stating his weekly payment. Didn't say how much arrears tho. I just worked it out using the info on citizen advice page.
Thanks for the info. I thought maybe it was monthly but if your right and it's deffo weekly then someone has made a big mistake. He's been over paid by almost €1000!!!!! I was only talking about overpayments by the welfare on here a few days ago didn't expect to be getting one!.!

Best to contact FIS section then as it will need to be paid back. Arrears would be from the date he first applied to the date it was paid.
What weekly rate has he been awarded and when was it awarded from? Thats what you need to calculate and if you are still not happy contact them and do not spend the excess as you will have to pay it back. Well most people would spend it as they would have not done the calculations like you have done and then arrange to pay back the overpayment weekly.

I've spent it about 100 times in my mind lol. I will ring them tomorrow he got his back money already so was very confused by this. If like I think it is a mistake I'd like it given back ASAP before I give in to temptation!!

Danois... I would be the same as you I would want it taken back before I would spend it also. Mmmmm... you say he got back money already... was he perhaps paid back money twice by mistake... is it the same amount.
