    Hi guys

Going to Galway, anyone any suggestions for a nice picnic area/walk? Thinking of driving to Lough Corrib somewhere.

    Thanks

    JB

Knockferry pier and surrounds are very nice. Go to Moycullen, take a right. 6-7 miles straight down to Knockferry pier. Amazing views, loads of shoreline to walk and have a picnic.

head to Oughterard, take a right in the village and drive/park/walk the southern shore of the lake til you come to a viewing area over Doon Rock island in townland of Curraun Beg. the Western Way continues along the forestry paths from here as well. gorgeous spot overall.

alot of places out in Connemara: Leenane, Inagh Valley, Letterfrack, Maam, Corr na Mona, Clonbur, Recess..

There is a place in between Corr na Mona and Clonbur where the road is windey and overlooks Lough Corrib. View is breathtaking..

If you make it as far as the north shore of the Corrib there are a few nice places with parking & picnic tables:

    1. Just south of Cornamona there is a pier with parking & tables. Quite nice for swimming too.
    2. The playground across from the church in Cornamona village.
    3. Along the lake shore, between Cornamona & Cong there's a parking area with good access to the lake.
    4. Ardnageeha, near Cong is a bit off the main road. Parking in a Coillte forest with a good view of the lake, walks & a stony beach nearby. May be a bit hard to find without a map.

There are a load of other nice spots to pull in but these have the best facilities.
