Received an email from MyGolfNews earlier today, saying that Moyvalley is opening 'officially' under new ownership tomorrow... and to celebrate they're offering free golf over the weekend to encourage new memberships

Great that the course re-opening. Should be in great nick as no play since end of Dec.

Be interesting to see how this membership rate (on a course that was kept open by the taxpayer for 5 years) has on the likes of Rathcore (e859) Co.Meath (e870), Kilcock, Knockanally (e750), Mullingar (e799), Knightsbrook. Another race to the bottom about to occur perhaps.

Is it just me or are the green fee's disproportionate to the membership fee's?

In a good way, after 14 games on the weekend your saving money by becoming a member.

Had hoped to make it this weekend but I've ran enough petrol out of the car this week lol

No if you want to convert green fees to memberships, the green fee rate needs to be set much higher. Too many clubs have green fee rates set at a level that unless you play a minimum of 40 times a year you are better of not taking out a membership.

Not sure about the others but in the case of Mullingar you are omitting the 5K hello money!! So I would exclude them from the race to the bottom.

True, they were only in really as a comparison of fees,
;) and also the fact that members may leave Mullingar to join Moyvalley,

Played here today, impressed to say the least. The course is in perfect condition, some of the truest greens I've played on in ages. Hope they can keep it in good order, it's a massive property and the maintenance costs have to be exorbitant... At €30 it's as good a deal as you'll find anywhere....

Used to love this course, was really disappointed when it closed as they did some good deals on the golfnow and teetimes websites. Don't see those deals on the discount websites anymore, just full prices.

Still would love to play it again
