Do people know, is it possible to just turn up on a saturday morning to Corkagh Park and spend an hour or two spinnign around the track or is there a more formal procedure ?

It's open to the public provided it isn't booked for any events. AFAIK, there's no public calendar where you can check if the park is booked, so it's a case of showing up and checking if it's free.

Actually, there's a calendar here you can check.

Saturdays are generally fine. Think Orwell use it for youth training on Sundays.

Once there is nothing booked there at the time, anytime I have been down there have been people using it form a few different groups who were just walking in.

It's a 1.1km loop so depending on what kind of intervals you are doing it should be fine. If it's 4 mins at FTP then you might find the constant cornering a bit of a pain. If it's 20s sprints then it's excellent.

    Surface is fantastic.

    cheers for that.

hhhmm, was looking at longer intervals than that. minimum of 4 mins sort of thing

Well there's nothing to stop you hammering it round the track for 4 mins at a time then taking it easy for a lap or two to recover - I'd guess it would be more like racing with sprinting out of corners etc and specificity in training is always good.

It'll be tough to really hammer it unless you're very lucky and there's nobody else on the track. Anytime I've gone there's usually been a couple of wobbly kids, and it's not nice to be zooming past them.
