the other night my girlfriend and her best friend and myself were all round having few drinks,I had few glasses of rum and coke but nothing much, and we were sitting outside and next thing i got unbelievably cold, so i go inside and jump under the covers in hr bed( i am wearing all my clothes and a waterproof jacket) and my body starts to change temperature from hot to cold every five mins, and my legs start shaking uncontrollably and i was wired like i took E.I got ridiculously paranoid, The two girls say they did nothing,
I am just wondering is there anything that would cause me to act this way?? I have smoked weed, drank and took E at same time and not felt this ****ed up,it was strangest felling and only slept 3 hours in next 24 hours,

never in my life felt like this ever before,

How did you feel physically the next day? I have developed temperature / shakes when I was sick with food poisoning.

I think you may need a new GF if you don't trust her not to drug you!!

At risk of pointing out the obvious, did you see a doctor about this? I'm really at a loss as to what you think people can tell you here, to be honest...

Could be anything - food poisoning, a virus, allergic reaction, fever. Nobody will be able to tell you here. Why would you think your girlfriend or her friend spiked your drink? Would be the last thing to occur to me...think thats more an issue!

Yeah, I think it's strange that your first reaction, and the only thing you're willing to consider is that your gf or her friend are evil and drugged you.

Is this something they have done before? Is it something you think your gf is capable of? If so then I think you need to find a new gf. If not, then I think maybe you have dabbled a little too much, and paranoia is setting in.

If something like that happened me I would go through every other possibility in the world and still never consider my be drugged me. And if that thought did come into my head he would become my ex-bf immediately!

well if any of you have ever taken drugs before you know the feeling of been wired to the moon on , and when it goes away after 6 or 7 hours and your just wide awake for the whole next day not even tired and feeling fine , i am no doctor but i didn't know they had virus that kick in for 6 hours and gave you the same feeling as a drug with some other side effects, i never imagined she ever could but you know when your high

Am pretty sure he is asking if anyone has ever had a drink spiked and, if so, what symptoms they presented with.

    thank you,
i just need to know m i been paranoid or not??

To be fair you haven't mentioned if you went to a doctor yet.

Most people wouldn't jump to the conclusion of your gf or her friend drugging you.

You don't mention much else like how long you and your gf are going out,if you usually take drugs or any medication etc...

Lots of factors could be involved but id say go to the doctor to get checked up and don't just assume someone may have drugged you when you are in the presence of your gf and her best friend

First thing I thought was flu. Drugs wouldn't pop into my head. They'd be even less likely to pop into my head if I was with someone I trusted and loved i.e. G/f. I would think you're being paranoid, but u know your g/f & friend better than I do. If you don't trust them that's a different matter.

Another consideration..... You smoke weed... Is this adding to paranoia?

i went to doctor he says there is nothing wrong with me, he was not sure, just said if it happens again go straight to doctor, it has never happened to me before in my life.
I am on no medication, i have been with my girlfriend for over 2.5 years. I would take drugs with her but usually only at festivals or concert, the only drugs i have ever taken is weed and ecstasy, I am in my early 20's and have always been able to handle my drink and drank less than usual the night in question,

...which falls firmly into the realm of medical advice, which is forbidden sitewide.

The problem is, you're drawing a conclusion, and then trying to make the symptoms fit, rather than the other way around. If I were in your shoes, and showing those symptoms after a night out, I'd be chatting with a doctor as soon as I could, wondering what had happened to me, rather than jumping to the conclusion that my girlfriend had spiked my drink. Assuming your girlfriend don't have a history of spiking drinks on nights out (which is a whole other issue if they do), then yeah, it's more than just a little paranoid to assume that they are drugging you against your will.

If you haven't seen a doctor already, it might be worth a visit.

i didn't think it was the flu or some bug but since i felt fine at 11 or 12 ,suddenly at 1 it hits me and the shaking and temperature change only last 6 hours and at 8 the next morning after not sleeping i felt fine and not even tired, i have never had sickness hit me like this before and doctor could not explain it since it only last few hours,

its just its bit weird or am i parnoid??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 edwardP91

its not the first thing that poped in my head, its just when you FEEL like your off your head on drugs ( as i know as i have taken them before) with uncontrollable shaking and temperature changes when i have had couple of drinks, i FELT liked i had worst flu ever and taking the more drugs than i have had ever taken before and this is after i have few glass f rum and coke cola ( AND since this is my usual drink) i got really freaked out, AND the fact i went to the doctor ande says he can't explain it just has me worried.

Yes it is request for information as i went to doctor for medical advice and i am just wondering as anyone ever had this experience before??

I think you should put it out of your mind now you have seen your doctor.

You could drive yourself mad trying to work out what happened and you will likely never know. I remember once getting a very strange reaction after eating red onion - my lips swelled up and I felt very light-headed and dizzy. It never happened before or since when eating it - it was just one of those weird things.

The doctor doesn't sound overly concerned, so chill out about it. :)

yea i suppose your right it will only drive me crazy

Ok... So you're certain it wasn't a virus or some unexplained illness because it came and went too quickly. You liken it to being off your head on drugs, as you have experienced similar before.. your gf was taking drugs (I think you mentioned her being high?) so the only logical explanation is she slipped something to you.

    Now what?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,180 ✭✭✭hfallada

If you had anything added to your drink. It sounds like a psychoactive drug like LSD or 25i. Particularly 25i which can make you.

See how the other girl other than your gf acts the next time you see her. That will be a good indication if anything happened

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,095 ✭✭✭Rubberchikken

for all it's worth, would you consider abandoning the drugs, even for the time being, and see if maybe they are affecting youir thinking.
if you've been with this girl over two years and you would consider her capable of pulling a stunt like that, even with her pal, then i think you should do a re-think.

didn't we discuss this in another thread with you Ed where the op presented with the same symptoms and also had been drinking rum?

anyhow as this is now in relationships...if you suspect your girlfriend of spiking you, it's time to break up the relationship as you do not trust her.

you can't seem to believe rum would have this effect because you can handle your drink and take drugs, but it can. also it was explained about low glucose levels. you sound a bit paranoid.

There are so many variables here OP, it's impossible to know if you've been spiked or not - although I would say it's extremely unlikely.

You say you were drinking outside. Now it gets pretty cold theses evenings outside, is it possible your body temperature plummeted and due to the alcohol, you didn't notice until it was too late? My husband reacts like that to extreme cold, literally can't warm up no matter how many layers he has on. It is scary to watch and scary for him to experience.

You say you had a few drinks, how many, home measures or standard pub measures? You say you can handle your drink normally, but the slightest thing can make you more intolerant to alcohol than usual, the amount you drank, the mixer, the brand, if you'd eaten, how tired you were, being stressed etc etc. I could go out some nights and have 5 drinks and be perfect but another night feel tipsy after 3!

The feeling you had the next morning could have been adrenalin kicking in after the experience and lack of sleep. A lot of drugs mimic the natural feeling of adrenalin so that could explain why you felt you had taken drugs.

I think it's alarming that your first thought would be that your long term gf drugged you. It doesn't say a lot about your relationship. Like the majority of people who say their drinks have been spiked, I suspect the causes here were a lot less sinister.

OP, requests for information on symptoms does stray into 'medical advice' territory, so this thread is on dangerous ground here as it is.

However, you also have a longer thread on AH about this, so I'm locking this one.

I would suggest you get MORE medical advice. Especially since the drugs you take are mood altering, you may need a referral if you are suffering episodes of drug-like symptoms when you dont expect.
