Thinking about starting my own small wholesalers for satellite and tv equipment and I'm looking for suppliers but first I want to see how much stock I would need to carry to get on the road. I'm wondering If anybody knows how many satellite dishes come in a pallet. The 60cm perforated skin ones in particular. Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated

They are worst dishes to sell. Sky only do them for cheapness. For Ireland also don't consider smaller than a 60cm solid type. Some parts of the country need larger dishes. Communal systems need a larger dish as the system S/N must be better to feed 100s to 1000s of outlets.

The number of dishes per palette depends on maker and model of dish. This is wrong place to ask. Your suppliers will tell you.

Some suppliers may only supply multiple pallets.

There are no "small" wholesalers, those are middle men, an Irish curse of people reselling from UK wholesalers, glorified "retailers" with a warehouse. A real wholesale buys in bulk from Factory only.

It's a competitive market too. Small will not work.

I know there not the most fantastic dish as ive been an installer myself for the last few years and the perforated dishes dont really last but there still always the most popular and i found that people go for price over quality so id have to have a range of all things including those. i know solid are far better and i intend to promote them more anyway as i live near the west coast. But believe it or not its very hard to find information abt this and where to get suppliers. Obviously it would'nt be feesible to be buying off the the middle man and trying to resell again to make profit so id hope to cut the middle man out and try and deal with the factory direct as you say but there's little to no information online as to where to find a manufacturer. Also im talking only about starting small and maybe expand eventually. Target area will be local, not really worried about having an online shop

You need to be clearer in your mind the difference in scale between a Retailer and Wholesale. Retail you can start in a small way. Wholesale you can't.

    Forget the Sky dishes.
    1) They are only for Sky to buy
    2) No margin in them. You'd make €1 or €2 per dish after overheads.

    Only contact Manufactures. Direct.
Triax dishes (but not set boxes)
    OAS Turkey (dishes, aerials accessories)
Vestel Turkey (set boxes with your own brand, they make them & TVs for Walker, Bush, Alba, Goodmans, Toshiba, Mitsubishi etc now or in the past)
    Various Chinese on Alibaba
Blake Aerials Blake Brackets Proception accessories
EMP Centauri Czech Republic (Satellite gear)
    Alps (LNBs)

"Small" would be starting with €100,000 stock and getting a reputation for quality. If you are asking here then you have not done the right research. "Small" is probably going to fail. You need to personally approach installers and Retailers and convince them you can deliver next day and quality at sensible price. Mail shots won't work until they are ALREADY your customers.

Most of these people today sell to retaillers, Installers and Public. So you can only get a good price with commitment to regular large shipments. You probably need to visit them and do deals.

Anything else is just really retailing.

P.S. If you have €300,000 then get Vestel or Chinese to get PVR with 2 x terrestrial tuners, 2 x Sat tuners, 1 Tbyte HDD and Saorview Approved. All the retailers will love you as currently there is only the Walker and has bugs. Walker don't seem to be able to explain the issues to Vestel.
