Advice on Whether to Change my Car or Not?

I have a BMW e60 5 Series 2004 2.2 petrol in immaculate condition. has all the extras bar leather, a fresh NCT and 11months tax. I bought the car just after my wedding last June.

I'm thinking of changing to something faster and more fun.

I only really drive on Sundays and my day off as I walk 5 minutes to work.

    I'm considering a Mazda Rx8, Focus ST170, Mx5, Boxster or even a 325CI or 330CI.

The problem is that my wife thinks I'm mad to get rid of the Bmw after just taxing it and the fact it is is near perfect condition, plus all the money that will be lost on it. She has her own car.

Its a good car to drive, solid, quick enough but you don't ever get that feeling of speed with it.

I guess I bought it at the time because it was the best compromise but now I feel if I don't get something more exciting now I never will.

My other option is to get something vintage but still quick and keep that alongside the Bmw.

    Any advice is appreciated.

oh man, if thinking of changing, you really should have only taxed it for 3 months! the tax is worth a grand. I mean you could put it up on donedeal, carzone etc and see what offers you get. If they dont meet your expectations, maybe keep it.

Option two sounds Good .. if you buy right mightn't lose much money later on

While the tax has cost you money it might actually make it easier and quicker to shift the BMW. However nobody here can really advise you whether to change car or not, that's really down to you as an individual.

That's what i am swinging towards as at least a classic will not depreciate much plus as you say might increase. I guess I wasnt sure about the Bmw but looking at it again it would be hard to let it go with everything i've put into it.

Not sure really but I'm open to suggestion on any nice vintage but fun quick cars. At least tax in insurance will be cheap plus I'm not phased by doing my own work on cars.

a z3 or z4 could be another option for you, if its a bm, the 2.5L would be the minimum that I would deem "fun"... an audi tt might be another option...

What is your budget op and do you have a garage to store it when not in use ?

No garage I'm afraid, it will have to be covered or some other solution. I owned a mini before but it broke my heart with rust. I'm saying around 3 grand.
