Shutter blades on camera damaged ;(

Hi. I have a Fujifilm Finepix F770 EXR camera. I was mainly using it for club events until the shutter blades became damaged from carrying it around in my pocket without a protective case.

There seems to be only one place in Dublin that will have a look at it (located at 62 dame st. D2) but theres a €25 assessment cost that comes off the total repair price. I have heard this kind of problem may be expensive to fix so is there anything I can do myself?

Could you please post a picture of the front of the lens if possible?
It's the front protective shutter you are referring to right?

Are there any visible dent in the ring around the front of the lens?

I brought it into the camera shop where I bought it and they had a good look at it. The upper layer of shutter blades are the problem. Think one of them is slightly dented. Currently they are inside the camera so I can still take pictures but am worried it may do further damage over time. The bottom blades are retracting fine.

How do I post images on here?

Thanks for the PM with the pictures.

It won't cause any further damage to the lens to leave it the way it is so if you don't mind occasionally pushing them up then it will safe you a repair/money.

Basically the front shutter is designed to protect the glass elements from scratches and marks. It is great to have it working perfectly but for the sake of having to replace the lens assembly it would be worth using it until there is another problem as you would have to replace the entire lens to replace the front shutter normally.

I don't see any obvious dents on the front of the lens around the shutter from the picture you sent but if you very lightly pry the inside edges you may free up the stuck blade yourself.
You wouldn't want to use a lot of force, just enough to see if the blade would come free ever so slightly on the top.

I have pushed the top shutter blades up into the camera so its functioning fine. Just need to keep it in a case when I am not using it. Will buy a soft case tomorrow as the one I have is hard and bulky.

Thanks for all your helf and advice :)
